Academic Connections
July 8-28, 2012

Academic Connections at the University of California, San Diego, is a three-week pre-college summer academic and residential experience targeted to highly motivated, high achieving, college-bound high school students, grades 9-12.

The program invites students to explore the best UCSD has to offer. The goal of the Academic Connections program is to connect select high school students with UCSD by providing hands-on college subject matter courses. Program participation provides students with the opportunity to experience life and learning at a top-ranked research university, located in the beautiful San Diego area.

Students can experience courses taught by UCSD graduate students in a college environment in Academic Connections Research Studies or work side-by-side with world renown UCSD researchers in their labs on specific projects. Academic Connections not only gives students a feel for academic life at a university, but also has multiple outside activities when not in class to network with other students.

UCSD is currently offering full-tuition scholarships to qualified high school students. The scholarship provides funding for selected recipients to attend the Academic Connections program in San Diego. Scholarship recipients must cover their own travel costs.

Scholarship consideration is offered only to Hawai‘i Island high school students who submit the Scholarship Application Form through The Kohala Center.

Please submit the online application, transcript and recommendation form through the UCSD Web site: http://academicconnections.ucsd.edu/application/index.cfm.
