Abstract
Māhealani Pai, Cultural Specialist at Kamehameha Investment Corporation, is leading their restoration efforts of select sites within the makai (ocean) areas of nā ahupua‘a of Kahalu‘u and Keauhou. Chadd Paishon, Makali‘i Navigator & Captain, of Nā Kālai Wa‘a Moku o Hawai‘i, collaboratively provided a learning venue in Keauhou-Kahalu‘u that connected the ‘āina (land), kai (ocean), and lani (heavens). Together, Māhealani and Chadd will introduce the concept of environmental kinship by describing these institutional values and program efforts of mai poina, not forgetting our ancestors.
