CURIE Engineering Academy at Cornell University (Girls Only)

July 13-19, 2014

The Kohala Center is currently offering two full-tuition scholarships to qualified high school students to attend either the CATALYST Academy, or the CURIE Academy, both hosted by the Diversity Programs in Engineering at Cornell. Qualified applicants may apply for one, or both of the programs. Scholarship recipients must cover their own travel costs. Scholarship consideration is offered only to Hawai‘i Island high school students who submit the Scholarship Application Form through The Kohala Center.

The CURIE Academy is a one-week residential engineering program for high school girls who excel in math and science. The focus is on juniors and seniors who may not have had prior opportunities to explore engineering, but want to learn more about the many opportunities in engineering in an interactive atmosphere. Cornell University's world-renowned faculty and graduate students will lead CURIE participants in classes, lab sessions, and project research. Social events, panel discussions, and other out-of-classroom activities will provide participants with opportunities to network informally with Cornell faculty, staff, and students.

Rising junior or senior girls with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 are eligible to apply to the CURIE Academy.
• Rising sophomore is equivalent to a current freshman
• Rising junior is equivalent to a current sophomore
