Comparing Abundance of Sea Life in Kona and Hilo
Students compared the abundance of sea life at Onekahakaha Beach Park and Waiuli Beach Park in Hilo with the abundance of sea life at Kahalu‘u Beach Park in Kona. Students developed methods and charts to collect data on the following organisms: cnidarians, mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, honu (turtle), vegetation, coral, limu (algae) and fish. Students also collected data on salinity and nutrient factors at all sites.
